A family meeting is a meeting where the entire family gets together. It's great to have it be a structured time, a structured day, a structured place. Everyone gets together and usually there's an agenda, in the family room, on the refrigerator. Anybody in the family can add something to the agenda. We are all busy, things come up during the week, if it's something important, we add it to the agenda. When we meet as a family, each person gets a turn at being a leader. One week, it's one person. Another week, it's another person. Family meetings are really important when you are working as a team. You are a team and you need to function as a team. It's a time to solve conflicts. It's a time to express feelings and emotions. It's a time to practice leadership skills. A family meeting gives everybody a voice and your children a safe place to express that voice.
