For me, it was so important that each one of my children felt like they were my favorite. So, I always made time to have a mommy and me date. So, I would go with my son and we would go to the movies, we would go out to eat, we would go shopping, and I did similar things with all three of my daughters. So, if you ask each one of them, "Who's your mom's favorite?" they're each going to say, "I am." And that was really important to me because I wanted each one of them to know that they were equally important to me, that their goals and their aspirations meant as much to me as Gabrielle's did. Her sport was so all-consuming that we found ourselves at meets and at practices the majority of her short life and so, I needed to make sure that my children knew that I was just as much as invested in their lives as I was in hers. Now, that did create a little problem for mom finding time for herself and I just had to take those little nuggets of time where I would read books and I would educate myself on just things that were important to me. I'm an avid reader and I love information so, that was the time that I gave to myself getting in a corner and reading a book, curling up next to my little dog, getting on the Internet and researching whatever was interesting to me at that time. So, it is important that you make time for yourself because you can't be a good mom if you don't pour back into yourself. So, those little moments of time, although I didn't get a lot of them, I made sure that I did get time in so that I also poured back into myself so I could continue to give out to my children.
