There's so much anxiety that if you have an only child that your holiday table will be just these two parents and this lonely looking only child and this giant turkey that no one can finish, and that's hardly the case. There are lots of different ways of having holidays. We do it with our extended family. Christmas is very big in my husband's family. And Dahlia, my daughter, has cousins who she celebrates Christmas with. And we have a fire and a tree and the whole over-eating, too many presents way of going crazy with that. On my side of the family we have Passover. And we have traditionally done a Seder with my parents' best friends. And that's created a wonderful chosen family, the one that I grew up in and the one that my daughter can now call her own. And we're now making new traditions with other families too. We have New Year's every year with a big group of friends. And now those friends are having kids. And that's just become a really, really wonderful tradition that we have. So there are so many ways to have holiday traditions, with old friends, with new friends, and with a large family even if it's not your immediate family but it's your extended family. So I'm not too worried about it.
