The symptoms of a low blood sugar in a child can vary for different children. A particular child tends to act in a certain way when their blood sugar is low which may be different from another child. In general, the symptoms of a low blood sugar would be a child that starts looking pale. They may become sweaty. They may become a little spacey, sort of just staring off or quiet. They can actually start to shake. A child will feel hungry. so often times in a young child, the only symptom is a sense of hunger. Some children will say, "My legs feel wobbly." They feel weak. So it really can vary. For a teacher or another parent or for a friend a behavior change is a good enough reason to check a blood sugar to make sure they are not low. Especially when a child is first diagnosed and they haven't learned how their body feels when it is low. So that you can start learning the symptoms and so that you can treat it accordingly.
