In and around a household, there are a number of things that a child may come in contact with that could potentially be poisonous. The vast majority of calls that we get at the Poison Control Center, tend to be about medications, cosmetics, and cleaning products; but there are a number of other poisons that you may find in the garage. Garage chemicals that you may use for your car, for example, or even poisons that you may use in the yard for plants or creatures, or even things for venomous spiders or rattlesnakes.

Cyrus serves as the Assistant Medical Director with the California Poison Control System and medical toxicology consultant for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
