Workers' Compensation Insurance is required for any employee, including a Nanny. You, as an employer, have to provide it if you have one or more employees whether they work full or part time.
What Workers' Comp provides for is benefit for your employee if they become ill or injured during the course of their job or on their job. The source of Workers' Comp is through an insurance broker, generally, or there are states that have their own fund set up that you can contact directly. California is The State Workers' Compensation Fund, where you can get it from directly.
