One of the questions people ask me when they hear that cloth diaper is, "But isn't it really messy," and the truth of the matter is not really. It's very similar to disposable diapering in that you diaper your baby, and if it's a pee pee diaper you're going to put that diaper straight into your diaper pail until it comes time for laundry day. If it's a poopy diaper, you're going to have to deal with the poop. But it's not like years ago when you'd have to dunk and swish the diaper around. There are a lot of gadgets out there, like a mini-sprayer, which can be very easily hooked up to your toilet without any hardware, and so you simply spray the poop out of the diaper and pop it into the diaper pail until laundry day. Diaper pail liners come made out of PUL, which is a polyurethane laminate, which will hold in any moisture and any stinkies as well. So it really can be quite neat and tidy.
